Let The Lord Lift Your Head!

I've been under a little stress lately with the day to day of life. Finances out of wack, bills, you know the drill..As I was driving into work this morning, I was talking to the Lord about how I needed a break and a release from some of the pressure. Mid way through the conversation, King David's words began to echo through my mind. "But Thou Oh Lord Art A Shield For Me/ My Glory And The Lifter Up Of My Head"(Psalms 3:3)

King David wrote this Psalms during a difficult time in his life. He was being chased by his own son Absolom who wanted to overthrow David (his father) as King. Can you imagine the stress that David must have been under? In the midst of everything that was going on with David..he remembered that God was his "Shield" & "The Lifter of His Head"

A "Shield" is something that protects you against "hurled or thrusted" weapons. Life will always throw something at you...somethings will be expected & some unexpected. Regardless of what life throws your way, remember that you have a "Shield of Protection" and his name is JESUS!

When you commune with God..he teaches you to listen for his still small voice..I heard his voice this morning and I'm so glad I did. My problems are still here & life will continue to hurl things at me..But I will lift up my "Shield of Protection" with "Praise & Worship" & when I do..he will lift my head far above my circumstances and give me peace!

Be Careful What Follows Your But

B-U-T...Only 3 ltrs BUT such a BIG word..A negative statement normally follows it totally contrasting or contradicting the preceding sentence.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21,that "Life & Death" is in the power of the tongue. As Christians we are supposed to speak life to our circumstances, knowing that we are "Speaking Spirits" and have the power to create through our words..... In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light:and there was light.(Genesis 1:1-3)

God spoke the world into exsistence and he created us in his image..therefore we too have the power to create thru our words. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness (Gen1:26-A clause)

Many times we start out by speaking Life to our situation, then we totally negate our positive statement with a B-U-T; For example...Someone ask you how you're doing? You say "Oh I'm fine..But -I'm not sure how this is going to work out. Maybe you're beliving God for your healing and you say..Yes I'm healed But - This pain is about to kill me. What's on the other side of your BUT; Is it positive or negative? Why not place God on the other side of your B-U-T? In every instance in the Bible where God follows a "But" it totally changes the situation. In Romans 5:8 it states: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. In 1Phil.4;19 the word reads:"But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus". Genesis 50:20 reads: But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good;

Many times in life you may find yourself in circumstances that are unpleasant and you may feel that a B-U-T statement is necessary....Just be sure that God is on the other side of Your BUT!

What Is Your Availability???

When you're applying for a job, one of the first questions you're asked is: "What is your availability" Your employer wants to know when you're available so that he can make a scheudule out based on that availabiliy. Once the schedule has been made..your supervisor only expects you to work on the days/times that you said you were available.

There is a song entitled: "Lord I'm Available To You" It's a beautiful song and I sing it from the depth of my soul!
But what does it really mean to be available to God? Available means to be obtainable or accessible and ready for use or service; Are you accessible to God? Can he reach you? Is your heart and mind tuned in to his voice. Are you ready and willing to go where he tells you to go and do what he ask you to do?

When you are available to God, you don't have an agenda. His will becomes your will and any plans that you've made can be easily broken. Being available in "The Kingdom" is different than being "Available" in "The World." In the world, you have a choice; You tell your supervisor what your availability is and your supervisor works around that schedule. Not So in "The Kingdom. When you tell God that you are available to him..it's like being on call 24hrs a day, for the rest of your life.
God does not work around your schedule, he doesn't ask what days you can work, or when you think you'll be free. When you are available to him, you are ready any time that he calls.

Some may say "That's too much" 24/7 for the rest of your life? Unthinkable! But I say, when you understand that you were created to give him Glory,& that it's not about you anyway. You will say: Lord, Let Your Kingdom Come...Let Your Will Be Done- I AM AVAILABLE To You!

What is your availability?

Yes...God Can Use You!

There's a song entitled "If You Can Use Anything Lord, Use Me" it's written by Ron Kenoly and when I hear it I'm always encouraged because I know that God Can use anything or anyone!

It doesn't matter where you've been or what you've done, when you give your life to Christ, God can still use you! I hope you don't think that because you've got flaws or things in your past that you're not proud of (as we all do), that God can't use you.

There are instances throughout the Bible where God uses an unlikely person to do his will.

Why don't we start with Rahab. Rahab was a Harlot (prostitute). God used Rahab to hide the Israelite spies who came to search out the land. Rahab was instrumental in setting Israel on the path to conquering Jericho and moving into the Promised Land.

What about The Apostle Paul? Paul wrote much of the New Testament, but before he met The Lord on the road to Damascus and his life and name was changed, he was "Saul" a murderer of Christians.

We certainly can't forget about King David..David sent his best man(Uriah) into battle to be killed so that he (David) could cover up the fact that he had gotten Uriah's wife pregnant.

And then there's me...Now that's a story for another time...but he's using me right now to let you know that can use anything/anybody!

So tell me...what is it so bad about you that you think God can't use you? God's love is unconditional. As human beings it is hard for us to comprehend a love like that, because we try to measure love by how much we are capable of loving. God is Love..and that's all there is too it! He so Loved the world...That he Gave...his only begotten son.

Put your life in his hands and I promise...He'll use you!

What Do You Do, When You Don't Know What To Do?

There have been times in my life, when I've just been at my wits end! I mean I just got to a point where I just didn't know what to do. Have you ever been in this place? Have you ever had to make a decision, or take a step in a new direction, and wasn't quite sure what to do or which way to go?

I believe we've all been there at some point or time in our lives. So the question becomes: "What Do You Do, When You Don't Know What To Do?"

Many times in situations such as these, people make snap decisions with no guidance or direction at all. Often times these decisions are life changing decisions that you have to live with forever. Sometimes we take the advice of friends, family other counsel that may not have our best interest at heart.

As a Child of God, there are 3 steps that I'd like to share with you, that I try to make a part of my decision making process. They are as follows:

1. Acknowledge God
2. Pray for direction
3. Wait on the Lord

Let's start with #1 "How do we acknowledge God" The first definition I found for acknowledge was that you "declare to be true or admit the existence or reality or truth of" So first you must believe and acknowledge the person of God. The Bible states in Prov. 3:6 "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Lord I acknowledge you as head of my life; You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords. My life is not my own.

#2 Pray for answers/direction- Prayer is essential! As a child of God, you shouldn't be making any decisions without first praying and asking God for direction. Again the Bible tells us in Phi. 4:6 "Be careful(anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

and finally, #3 - Wait on the Lord! This is very important. So many times we pray and ask for God's help and then we don't wait on his answers. God doesn't forget that you've prayed and asked for his help. Don't be so quick to give up on God and go your own way. In Psalms 27:14 it reads: Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

I don't know what decisions you are facing today, but I do know that if you acknowledge God, pray for direction/answers and then wait on him, you will never make the wrong choice.

The Sea of Forgetfulness

Unfortunately many people today are living a life of "Condemnation". They feel as if God can't use them or will not bless them because of sins they have commited in their past.
Did you know that when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your sins became covered by the Blood of Jesus? What does that mean? It means when God looks at you, he doesn't see your sin, he sees the "Blood of Jesus" and your sin debt is satisfied.

God has forgiven you for your sins, as a matter of fact, he doesn't even remember them! The Bible says in Micah 7:18-19, Who [is] a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth [in] mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Then in Heb. 8:12 he says "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more " God has forgotten your sins.

Why do you constantly keep reminding him and yourself of your past? He's put it out of his memory and he wants you to do the same! Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. (Isa.43:18)

If your past keeps coming before you, it's not God condemning you, it's satan controlling you. You're letting him control your thoughts. You must bring every thought into captivity unto the obedience of Christ. (2Cor.10:5). For the word states in Romans 8:1 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

You are free from sin!

Stop Asking God to Forgive; What He's Already Chosen to Forget!

How To Walk Thru Fire & Not Get Burned

Today as I was listening to a live Worship Broadcast on line. I started to think about how "Faithful" God has been to me over the years. He's brought me out of so many situations, many of which I thought would break me, but now some are just a distant memory.

Have you ever been in a situation that looked like it would consume you? I mean you really thought, "This is it;" "I don't know how I'm going to get out of this?" Life's challenges can sometimes bring us to the "Brink of Despair", but when you put your Faith in God, no matter what the situation, you trust him to bring you through.

There were 3 young men in the bible who were in a situation that looked hopeless. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were being put in a "Fiery Furnace" I mean a real Furnace Yall. The Furnace was so hot that it burned up the men that were throwing them into the fire. (Dan. 3:22). These young men were tied up and left in the fire to burn.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not know how or if they would get out of what they were in, but they trusted God with their situation. Three men were placed in the fire, but when thier Adversary looked in the furnace he saw four men. When we put our trust in God, he gets involved with our problems. The fourth man was "The Holy Ghost" The Holy Ghost enabled these men to walk through the fire and not get burned, & there was no smell of smoke on their clothes. In other words, unless you saw them get put in a furnace, you would never have believed they had been in a fire!

Whatever you're dealing with today; whatever the situation you are facing; Trust God, and allow him to get involved. He will cause the thing that put you into the fire, to call you out. "Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, [and] spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come [hither]. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire." (Dan. 3:26)

**Father - I trust you with every situation that I may find myself in today. I have faith that no matter what I'm facing. You have the power to walk me through it.**

Free To Worship

Last Sunday as I stood in midst of our congregation, with my hands raised and my voice lifted, I thought to myself, "How Awesome It Is To Be Free To Worship!"

When I worship, I free my mind of everything and I focus on God. I lay all my cares at his feet and I Glorify His Name. I'm not thinking about what I need to do when I get home, bills that need to be paid, people that have wronged me, nothing of the sort. I give The Lord my full attention.

I can't think of anything better than losing yourself in Worship! When you get "Lost In Worship" then you Find yourself in him.

As you begin to tell God who he is; he begins to tell you who you are.

You tell him he's "The King of Kings" - He tells You that "You're The Head & Not The Tail" - You tell him he's "Jehovah Jireh" - He tells you "You're More Than a Conquerer" - You tell him "He's The Great I Am" - He tells you - you're a "Peculiar Treasure".

Lose Yourself in Worship & Find Yourself in him.

I Am Free To Worship!

THEY MAKE READY!

For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart(Psalms 11:2)

Satan has a plan for your life! The above scripture shows how the enemy is prepared. He already has the arrow ready upon the string, the bow is bent. The bible tells us that Satan comes to Kill, Steal, & Destroy.

Satan knows your future. He knows the Destiny that you are carrying and he wants to destroy it before you can give birth. In Rev. 12:4 it states that Satan stood before The Woman (representing the church) waiting for her to give birth to her child (representing Destiny)so that he could Destroy it. (and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.)

Satan is doing all he knows to do to try and keep you from fulfilling the Destiny that was ordained for you before the foundations of the earth.

Equip yourself through the word! Hide the word in your heart so that you may stand firm.

This is "The Year of The Saints" The Set Time of Favor has Come!

Don't Let Satan be the only one Planning Your Future! Ask God to give you a plan then write it out & read it everyday (And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make [it] plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Hab.2:2 )

If You Fail To Plan; Plan To Fail!

Your Mouth Is Full - But Your Heart Is Empty

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: (Isaiah 29:13)

Have you ever known anyone, or been around someone, that's always giving out advice, and then when you have the opportunity to spend some time with them, their life reflects something totally different than what they are saying?

When it comes to The Kingdom of God, there are many who flatter God with their lips, but their hearts are so far removed from him that there is no real relationship.

When you are in real realationship with God, you want everything about your life to please him. You don't want to just "Talk the Talk" You want to "Walk the Walk."

We have to be careful not to become like Saul. When Saul was first annointed King, the spirit of God came upon him, And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. (1Sam. 10:6). Saul was humble in the beginning. He obeyed God and had a heart for God. But Saul started to do his own thing, he disobeyed God and would rather please the people than please God. The Bible said that God repented that he had made Saul King and he took his (God) Spirit from him. But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him. (1Sam. 16:14.)

Saul continued to serve as King for a time, but God had already chosen David to replace him..so in reality Saul was just doing "Lip Service" because the Spirit of God had left him & his (Saul) heart had left God.

My prayer is that the words I speak, reflect the life I lead. If ever you, as my friend, a follower of this blog, or just someone who happened by, find me living outside of the words I write, speak, post...Please Love Me Enough to Rebuke Me In Love.

Lord - Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. (Psalms 51:11)

Quiet Desperation

I just finished watching "Revolutionary Road" with Leonardo Dicaprio & Kate Winslet. It was an awesome movie and I recommend you take the time to watch it if you haven't already.

The movie was about an idealistic young couple that had all sorts of dreams and goals as to how their life together would turn out. They were both creative minded people who ended up feeling stiffled by their choices in life. He (Dicaprio) ended up working for the same company in which his father once worked and she (Winslet) became a homemaker. For some people this life would have been enough; nice home, good job, 2kids......

The problem for the characters was that this was not the life they envisioned for themselves. They both really wanted more out of life, but in reality, neither had the courage to go after it.

This movie was so true to life for me, and I think a lot of people in general. Many people end up settling for where they are in life, instead of going after the things they really want. I mean life is good, and you could probably live happily ever after where you are, but in your heart, you're not doing what you feel you were destined to do.

Such was the case of the characters in this movie. Neither went after what they really wanted in life, and as a result, became two rather miserable people.

As Christians, I believe that we are "Destined For Greatness" and that when we don't pursue that "Greatness" whatever it may be; we live our lives with a certain amount of resentment, either against ourselves or those around us. When you "Desire" something then you long for it. Many of us have desires/dreams that have been in our hearts since we were children and we have not pursued them. Perhaps we are afraid, or think we're too old, or feel that it's just unrealistic. I am of the notion that God gives us the desires of our heart. Psalms 37:4 reads: Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.I understand this to mean that "God" will give us "WHAT" to desire. When that desire is not fulfilled, our lives are not fulfilled.

I don't know what you "Desire" in life, but if you're not pursing it, I do know that your life will never be what God designed it to be.Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.

Be Brave & take the steps necessary to follow your dreams.

It Takes Courage To Live The Life You Want!

Come Out With Your Hands Up!

Remember those old movies where you had the "Good Guys" and the "Bad Guys" and you knew that at some point during the movie the Bad Guys would get themselves cornered in some old shack/barn with no way out and have some sort of shoot out with the police. It usually ended up one of two ways: The bad guys would be shot and killed or the cops would shout "Come Out With Your Hands Up!" and the Bad Guys would surrender.

Have you ever found your self in a situation where you felt cornered like there was no way out? Perhaps you feel cornered by debt, stress, anxiety, or some other challenge that life might bring. Did you know that God has already equipped you with the weapons you need to overcome any situation in life?

When You begin to Praise/Worship God, he steps into your situation; He inhabits the praises of his people (Psalms 22:3) To "Inhabit" means to: dwell; remain; sit; abide. God is not a God of confusion, so in order for him to "Inhabit" (dwell, remain, sit, or abide)in your Praise/Worship he has to first fix your situation!

So the next time you feel cornered, take a lesson from the "Bad Guys." Go ahead and surrender (to The Lord) and "Come Out With Your Hands UP!"

Be Blessed Today!

The Benefits of Spending Time With Jesus

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. (Acts:3:23)

Have you ever felt insecure or maybe had feelings of inadequacies when surrounded by those who may have more education or training. Have you ever been on a job interview for a job for which you know you weren't qualified?

Sometimes in life, we are put in situations that we think are "Out of Our League", but The Bible lets us know, that when we spend time with Jesus, he will equip us for every situation that we face in life.

When we spend time in the word, God reveals to us who we are in him. When we know who we are, we are confident in whatever we endeavor. We don't have to be concerned about what to say or how to act in any situation.

When God told moses to go and speak to Pharaoh, Moses was hesitant and began making excuses as to why he couldn't go he basically said that he was nobody and didn't think they would listen to him, he said : "I am not eloquent....but I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue" and God said to Moses " Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf or seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore GO, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. (Exodus 4:10-12).

Spend time with Jesus, Get into the word and watch God take you places that you could never have imagined.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (1Cor.2:9)

Letting Go

The other day my Bishop said that "Our Success is Predicated On Who We Let In And Who We Let Out Of Our Lives." As I began to think on this statement, I thought about the people by whom I am surrounded. I'm a pretty private person and there are not a lot of people in my circle so I thought "Well, I'm pretty much on top of this one" But the words stayed in my spirit and I've just been listening to see what The Holy Spirit was saying.

As I began typing this note, I started thinking about my everyday life, the people I come in contact with, the television shows I watch...that sort of thing and I realized The Holy Spirit was saying that my circle was larger than I imagined it to be. I originally took the statement at face value and because I'm careful about who gets close to me on a personal level, I just nodded my head in agreement. I wasn't thinking about the people that I allowed in my life via the televison, radio, books etc.

In this "New Year" I'm taking time to inventory my life. I'm asking myself, if there are some people/things that I need to let out so that I can make room for new people/things that need to come into my life.

Letting go can be hard, but we (you and I) have to realize that every one can't go where God is taking us. In the bible when God told Abraham to get thee out of his country and away from his kinfolk, Abraham took his nephew Lot with him. Lot was not ordained to go with Abraham, but I think that Abraham wanted to hold on to something that was familar to him. We can sometimes be the same way. When God begins to deal with us in certain area's and perhaps start cutting off people, and isolating us, because he's about to take us to another level, we try to hold on to stuff that God is telling us to let go.

It is only when we let go, that God can truly bless us: And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.(Gen.13:14-16)

Waiting On God

There's a song that we sing at our church entitled "I Don't Mind Waiting" That's pretty much all there is to the song..I don't mind waiting, I don't mind waiting, I don't mind waiting on The Lord. It's one of my favorite songs and I sing it with such passion that if you saw me, you'd say, "Now she really doesn't mind waiting on God" Now if I'm honest with you and myself, I'll have to admit, there have been times when I've been impatient and I went ahead of God, and I can tell you from experience, that's not a good situation.

Why should we try and get ahead of the one who knows our future? He knows our beginning from our end. He knows what's around every corner and every obstacle that may be standing in our way. When we allow God to go before us, he makes our crooked places straight, he leads us and guides us in the direction that he would have us to go.

I use to think I was missing out on things "Waiting On God"; that life was passing me by..I'd have my own little pity party..You know what I mean..."Lord, I'm still not married,....I thought I'd be further along in life, I'm getting older and I haven't done this, I thought I'd be at this level by now..blah, blah, blah and then God spoke to me through a poem he gave me to pen...It explained to me that by "Waiting On God" I wasn't missing anything..in fact, I was exactly where he wanted me; but most importantly, he revealed to me all that he was doing, while I was waiting...

WHILE I WAS WAITING

While I was waiting, at times all alone
The Lord spoke to me in his fatherly tone:

"Be Patient my child, hold fast to the plan
I know times are tough, but you just got to stand.

While I was waiting things seemed so unclear
Which way should I go? I was wrestling with fear.

While I was waiting, I heard the Lord say:
"Stay close by my side and I'll show you the way"

While I was waiting, a work had begun to put
me in a race, I had already won.

While I was waiting I spun on the wheel, being
molded and shaped, then broken and healed.

While I was waiting, I sent Judah first, though
at times in my life, the situation got worse.

WHILE YOU WERE WAITING, THE LORD SAID TO ME:

I was making a way, I was calming your seas,
I was digging up weeds, I was pulling up tares,
I removed stumbling blocks of which you weren't aware.
I was opening doors, I was tearing down walls.
I cut off relationships that could cause you to fall.
I was drawing you near, I was pulling you close,
I was saturating your life with the "Holy Ghost"
I was giving you wisdom and planting a seed
Revelation Knowledge, I imparted indeed.
I was equipping you for the journey ahead.
I breathed life into dreams that you thought were dead

While you were waiting, I was preparing you, to do
the work I called you to.

Now Is The Time; The Waiting Is Done;

Remember the words that were spoke by my son:

" Go Ye Therefore, and teach all nations"

Silence the groans heard throughout all creation.

While I Was Waiting..............

A Real Friend

Earlier tonight I watched "The Soloist" with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. It was an awesome movie, a true life story of Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx) who was a former cello prodigy, that studied at Julliard for 2years before having to drop out due to schizophrenic episodes. He became homeless and was living on the streets of LA when he met Mr. Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) a reporter with the LA Times. Mr. Lopez and Nataniel developed a relationship in which Mr. Lopez tried to help Nathaniel get off the streets and have the opportunity to play his music again.

While Mr. Lopez was successful in changing some aspects of Nathaniel's life, he couldn't do anything for his mental condition. Nathaniel did not want to be on medication or have to live in an institution. Mr. Lopez tried all he knew to do until Nathaniel just exploded on him. As the movie progressed Mr. Lopez realized that Nathaniel just needed a freind, and that sometimes being a friend means that you just have to be there, and not try and change people's lives to fit into what makes you comfortable. Sometimes you just have to accept people for who they are and where they are in life. It's not always an easy thing to do, because when you love someone you want what's best for them.

We can all learn a lesson about freindship from this movie. What I learned was that: A Real Friend Loves At All Times; That sometimes God puts us in situations not to change people, but to change us. That love should be unconditional, not based on whether or not people are living up to our standards. We choose whether or not to live in someone elses world, so when we choose to live there, we shouldn't try and make it just like ours.

So love your friends for who they are right now, and pray that they become all that God has created them to be.

Be Blessed Today,

Alecia (aka - Destahnee)
